New Faces at Outdoor Alternative This week Outdoor Alternative has been joined by two new faces. Peter and Janet Cross are now living in the log cabin on site and will be assisting us in the work of Outdoor Alternative. Their key role will be to provide a contact point for customers on-site, they will meet and greet people on arrival, and be around to be a first port of call to resolve any difficulties that may arise. During the summer months they will also manage the camping facilities, registering campers and being available for the sale of charcoal and loan of BBQs etc.. Andy Short will continue to be the main contact point for customer enquiries, bookings and finance, and Jacqui Short will continue to manage the catering for groups. We're really glad that they have joined us and look forward to working with them in the months ahead. December 2007

Outdoor Alternative receives Green Dragon Award26 Feb 2004 |
![]() |
Outdoor Alternative has received the Green Dragon Award for environmentally friendly business. The award is made to businesses in Wales that demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability. We are really pleased to have been given the award in recognition of our long-standing commitment to sustainability. Since its establishment in the 1980's Ian & Margaret have worked hard to ensure that Outdoor Alternative has had a minimal impact on the local environment. Practices such as using low energy light bulbs, water saving measures, composting and recycling have always been standard. The Green Dragon Award fits well with our sense of values and we are really glad that the Welsh Assembly is prioritising sustainability and glad to be part of the scheme. The Green Dragon Award is a 5 stage environmental management standard recognising effective environmental management and requiring businesses to achieve continuous improvement against the standards. Outdoor Alternative has this year been awarded Level 2 of the standard which is appropriate for our size of business. To meet the requirements of the standards we have re-written our Environmental Policy and set targets for improvement against key indicators. We will be assessed against these each year. As part of our commitment we encourage our customers to help us by being aware of energy use, helping to recycle and manage waste, and conserve water. We also ask that they respect the superb natural environment around Rhoscolyn. Please visit the link below to see a copy of our environmental policy.
